Eco Schools
Welcome to Llanbister C.P. Schools Eco Committee!
We are a group of 9 very enthusiastic pupils who are keen to raise awareness of how wonderful our world is and the ways in which we can protect and look after it. Through our meetings we organise termly activities for the school to take part in ranging from;
-
Up-cycled tie dye T-shirt and bag making.
-
A visit from the ‘Animal Man’ for World Animal Day, with an ‘Endangered Animal’ poster competition.
· We just love a walk up the common on a litter picking mission.
Our committee has partnered with the Radnor Wildlife Trust, who come into school termly, With lots of really fun and interesting activities planned, including tree measuring, bird feeder making and planting a wild flower min meadow ready for the pollinators to get to work soon.
We were lucky enough to receive trees from the National Trust that are now planted on our school playing field. As part of the PTA Christmas Fayre we raised funds for our committee trough team work, making scrabble tile and wooden tree decorations, along with upcycled crayons. The money we have raised will go back into the school’s outdoor space.
We have more recently adopted a Gorilla for the whole school. Our mission is to help preserve our precious planet!
WWF SUPPORT
Eco school have decided that the money they raised from their 'Toy Swap' event could offer support to the WWF by adopting a Mountain Gorilla. They want to spread their appreciation of animal protection throughout the school and community.
To raise awareness of issues that are wider than school and that would benefit from our help. They look forward to updates on the progress of their Gorilla, have dedicated a display to it and plan to involve the whole school in naming him/her. #Ethical informed citizens
